Now you may be thinking, “My marriage is going great! So, why do I need to spring clean it?”
We often think that when the marriage is doing well that we are best off to leave things alone. I mean, we certainly don’t want to mess up anything. But it is when we are firing on all cylinders that we are best equipped to do a little spring-cleaning.
For example, perhaps you are a vegetable gardener. If so, come springtime requires that you till and, amend the soil, and prepare it for the planting of seeds and ultimately growth. Or perhaps your spring-cleaning involves going through your closet and eliminating clothes that you don’t wear anymore, to make room for some new clothes that you have been needing. Whatever, the situation, spring is a time to prepare for growth. So, why not examine how we can grow in our marriage.
You see, when things are moving smoothly in your marriage, it is the perfect opportunity to look at how your strengths can help you to cutoff potential avenues of conflict before they can ever get started. This is difficult to do when your relationship is struggling.
Perhaps there are some things that are holding your marriage back in one way or another. Spring may be the perfect time to work on eliminating those things that are obstacles to growth.
Spring cleaning may be a different way to view making improvements in your relationship, but it also just may be the ideal time as well.
