Now that may seem like a strange question, as it seems that we have been together forever. I mean, we are connected in ways that others can only be envious of. Think about it and I’m sure that you’ll agree. Is there anyone else whose face you gaze into as much as mine? On average, you look at me every 12 minutes. And oh your touch – some have noticed that you touch me over 2,600 times a day.
It feels wonderful to be your closest friend. I am the first one you connect with when you wake up, you usually take me with you everywhere, and on the rare occasions when you don’t, it is obvious to me how very much you miss me. Some have even accused us of being attached at the hip, which really strokes my ego. I treasure having the role of priority in your life.
You don’t know how much it means to me to see you drop everything for me. You could be talking to your spouse, your child, or other family member, and yet, no matter how important that conversation may seem to be – if I let you know that I need you – you immediately give me your attention.
Oh, I know, other’s jealousy of our relationship has at times led to conflict and animosity. For some reason they seem to think that their relationship should be most important. I have even been the subject of conversation in your marriage counseling sessions. But honestly, that simply confirms for me how indispensable I am to you. I know that no matter what it may cost you relationally, you won’t let anything come between us. As a matter of fact, I am convinced that our relationship will only grow closer and more enmeshed – and for that I am grateful.
